Study: Sepsis pathogens and antimicrobial resistance surveillance in Ethiopian referral hospitals
show Abstracthide Abstract
The goal of this project is to identify bacterial aetiologies and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance genes among sepsis patients in Ethiopian referral hospitals. Mainly, the study aimed to determine the molecular epidemiology of ESBL, AmpC and carbapenemase producing and colistin resistance Enterobacteriaceae. This study was done at four referral hospitals selected from the central, southern and northern parts of the country and which serves millions of peoples from different regional states of Ethiopia. The study was conducted at a larger scale in order to guide future efforts to prevent sepsis and the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
